Niagra Falls

Niagra, NY is little tourist trap of a town, filled with gift shops and motels and thick mist, drifting in from the West. Whatever's up there, it's big. We cross Rainbow Bridge into Ontario, park it, and walk to the overlook.

Shock and awe. This is bigger, more violent than I anticipated. The wind is whipping hard. Sunglasses are necessary to block the spray. Millions upon millions of gallons of water running to the edge and falling fast, like lemmings, like a liquid avalanche. Sublime is really the only word.

Me: So whattaya think?

Mike: I think I gotta take a leak.

Me: You're tellin me...

We grab a quick lunch at the Burger World at the Niagra Falls visitor center and head west, further into Canada. This freeway system is incomprehensible to our American minds. We just got on a one-lane road called the QEW, crossing fingers that this leads us to Michigan...
